Donate Facebook Group. Apr 28, 1. Before I begin I would like to direct you to this thread. Riggs knows much more than I. Please correct any misinformation that I spread. I'm still learning as I go along. I plan on just condensing the information to the best of my understanding which isn't all that much and making it a bit easier to find.
I'm no expert I just want to share this information seeing as I haven't seen all that many people showcasing this setup. I hope these threads are useful to you.
I have been planning on putting an electronic ignition on my 77 since I bought it. I was having trouble finding a new set of points and the ones I had were badly worn. I started looking around for electronic ignitions and came across this thread. Riggs used the pickup and reluctor out a Toyota 22R motor from the 80s. Here's a part of Mr Riggs setup.Discussion in ' The Garage ' started by renovatorJun 9, Search Forums Recent Posts. Search Media New Media.

Hi, I have been extensively refurbishing my xs for the past 2 years. Passion work cost too much. They have been good and the parts were, all in all, as I had expected. They came in defective: the rubber is not properly form on the steel frame of the pegs. It Ok, probably came from China and it was a bad batch.
The issue is that to return the parts, they do not want to stomach the freight cost. I did pay for the freight of all the goddam parts I have ordered.
Hell, I do not have to agree. Just pay. And I did. Trying to get the defective parts back to them COD: No dice! Their response was: 'As the item does work for your bike and is not defective If notI would keep the old ones!
We all do. So for all you dreamers out there watch out: if they send you what you expected, Great! Your blessed. But if it is defective, well, tough luck, I guess you have to live with it. Not the best attitude from somebody I have feed my money for a while. Will go to MikeXS in the states on my next trip. Tough to buy Canadian.Search Forums Recent Posts. Search Media New Media.

I'm not sure where to post this but I figured this would find the right people. My dad unfortunately passed away this afternoon from what appears to be a heart attack. I know this group meant a lot to him and I wanted to let those of you who knew him well know and I don't know how long he'll be kept logged in here.
Thanks for being a place where he could find a lot of joy. He spoke of this group all the time. I can say that several of us got to know Robin very well over the past few years and a couple of us rode with him - even as recently as a couple of weeks ago. I think that I can speak for all of us who came to appreciate his enthusiasm, his endless good humour, his patience and kindness to everyone and his generosity with his knowledge.
He will be sorely missed. I am sure that we can all draw our own lessons from this sad event, but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that there will be two especially poignant entries in this years XS calendar. Hey Facebook people We've created a group for XS Check it out! Donate Facebook Group. Wiring harness Discussion in ' The Garage ' started by dts66Feb 3, Feb 3, 1.
That is where my problems start. The new harness has a connector for every component but none of the components have connectors so nothing matches up. The bike is kick start only and has a baby food lid electronic ignition is that any good? So my question is are there simpler wiring diagrams out there? Other than that the build is going good.
I know I've re wrapped the exhaust already. Feb 3, 2. I like this one. Easy to build. It shows a basic points ignition with the separate regulator and rectifier. E-start up in the corner. It's easy to alter this diagram for aftermarket ignitions, Just wire in what you have after the kill switch.
Adding more things is easy. Start after the main switch, add a fuse, run wire to whatever you need, good ground and good to go. XSLeoFeb 3, Feb 3, 3. Perfect, That's what I've been looking for. Thanks XSLeo! Now I guess I have to tear my new harness apart, because I've got a lot of extra wires. Feb 3, 4. There is also a vendor that sells one on here. Maybe ordered what you want and sell the new one you have? I know if it was me as I don't like electrical either I would just see what it costs to get the correct harness.
