When the franchise began, fans quickly learned how power was disseminated amongst the Leaf Village. Jounin like Kakashi were heralded as top fighters while fresh genin got all of the easy missions. Now that Boruto has started, many assumed Naruto Uzumaki leveled up his rank to the very top. However, that guess would be totally incorrect. In fact, Naruto is still at the bottom of the list.
Recently, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations released its latest episode, and the update saw one genin team make a documentary about their rank.
Metal, Iwabe, and Denki were tasked with making a film highlighting all things genin, and they had to present it to the Hokage. Naturally, the team looked stunned by the admission. Ranks are not widely known in the ninja world unless you are told directly or look up someone in the Bingo Book.
When it comes to ANBU, those ninja are forced to keep their elite rank a secret, but the title of Hokage is very public one. Many believed Naruto had reached a jounin rank to nab the position, but it looks like the hero held back on that accolade. Really, can you blame him though? The hero might have become a genin Hokage, but that does not mean he has the brains of a newbie. At the end of Naruto: Shippudenfans watched as Iruka set the boy on lessons preparing him for his Hokage dream, so Naruto has some book smarts.
Now, he just needs to give himself a promotion. Are you surprised by Naruto's rank? Let me know in the comments or hit me up on Twitter MeganPetersCB to talk all things comics, k-pop, and anime! Remember me on this device Login.

Once the Genin has successfully undertaken eight missions, they can be sponsored by their Jounin sensei for the Chuunin Exam. The Chuunin is the basic journeyman ninja of the village. These ninja can become field doctors or teachers. They were formerly Genin who were promoted for displaying excellent intelligence, strategy and combat skills in the Chuunin Exam. Chuunin have the equivalent rank of military captain, exhibiting strong stamina, knowledge and inner wisdom.
Special Jounin are ninjas who have gained high Jounin-level skills in one area of ninja arts. These are ninja like Morino Ibiki, who is highly skilled at interrogation and torture.
Ninja attain the rank of Special Jounin through official appointment. The Jounin are ninja who are highly skilled in all jutsu skills and arts. Ninja attain the rank of Jounin through official appointment. The Jounin generally serve as squad commander for mission operations. The village Kage is the strongest ninja in the hidden village. The Kage serves as the pillar upon which the village stands and the strength a village presents to the other ninja countries largely depends upon the strength of the Kage in power.
They have excellent chakra and stamina and know the most jutsu techniques. The list of authors can be seen in the page history there.
The academy is where would-be ninja start; they are not actually considered ninja until they graduate. Academy students take formal and practical tests of all sorts and are taught basic ninja skills, such as martial arts, techniques, physical fitness and the way of the ninja. Basic weapon usage, such as kunai and shurikenare commonly taught. Elementary ninja techniques, such as transformation jutsu and clone jutsu, though they vary from village to village, are also taught. Some villages also have an additional test given by the Jonin of each three-man squad to see if they are truly ready to graduate, which determines whether the squad can work as a team.
To ensure that only truly qualified ninja are promoted, only three Genin teams are allowed to pass. The test for determining which three teams may become Genin are administered by each team's respective Jonin commander, and vary depending on the Jonin. What is required for graduation varies from academy to academy. In Konoha, the graduation exam is composed of some sort of written test, as well as demonstration of basic techniques, such as clone jutsu, though Rock Lee is an exception, because he can only perform taijutsu.
Because of this, skill levels vary drastically between Genin. Genin are put in three-man cells, and are then assigned a Jonin sensei to mentor them. This is done to teach the Genin teamwork and experience true ninja life under the supervision and protection of an elite shinobi. The make-up of these teams is based on the individual skills of the Genin, so that there will remain a balance between the teams. When they become Genin, ninja start to do their bit for their village's economy, for which they are given a small payment.
They are typically sent either on D-rank missions, which are the lowest rank and are almost entirely risk-free jobs of manual laboror experienced genin are sent on C-rank missions, which are a cut above that and begin to verge on real "ninja" work, though they generally have a very low possibility of risk to the ninja involved.
Chunin have reached a level of maturity that primarily consists of leadership skills and tactical prowess. Some of them, like Iruka Uminofunction as teachers and others, like Shikamaru Naraserve as team leaders in charge of small teams who need to make decisions and utilize the skills of the shinobi under their command to the maximum effect. Upon reaching Chunin level, ninja can wear an identifying tactical vest that holds ninjutsu scrolls. This vest is not required; instead, some look for more elaborate clothing like capes or robes.
Chunin are typically sent on C or B-rank missions. To become a Chunin, a Genin participates, with his or her team, in a large examination, known as the "Chunin Exams," hosted twice a year due to the growing number of ninjas. In the past, each village held their own Chunin exam. After the 3rd Ninja World War, allied ninja villages agreed to hold the exams together at the selected village that would host the exam, so villages could improve and strengthen their relationships. These are the known ninja ranks that can be obtained by a ninja within the world of Naruto.

Basic weapon usage, such as kunai and shuriken, is commonly taught. Elementary ninja techniques, though they vary from village to village, are also taught.
Upon graduating, students receive a special band of fabric with a metal bar bearing the symbol of their village, which is commonly referred to as a "forehead protector" or hitai-ate, although it can be worn in different ways Sakura Haruno, for example, wears it as she once wore the ribbon Ino Yamanaka gave her. Some villages also have an additional test given by the Jounin sensei of each three-man squad to see if they are truly ready to graduate, such as Kakashi Hatake's bell test, which determines whether the squad can work as a team.
To ensure that only truly qualified ninja are promoted, only three Genin teams are allowed to pass. The test for determining which three teams may become Genin are administered by each team's respective Jounin commander, and vary depending on the Jounin.
What is required for graduation varies from academy to academy. In Konoha, the graduation exam is composed of some sort of written test, as well as demonstration of basic techniques. The only student ever to become a ninja without being able to use these techniques was Rock Lee. Kirigakure once had students duel to the death as its graduation exam, but following an unfortunate incident in which Zabuza Momochi murdered all of the graduating class before he qualified, this practice was suspended in favor of more acceptable methods.
Genin Genin are the lowest level of ninja and also the ones that display the most difference in power. When they become Genin, ninja start to do their bit for their village's economy — being sent on missions that the village gets paid for.
They are typically sent either on D-rank missions, which are the lowest rank and are almost entirely risk-free jobs of manual labor, or experienced genin are sent on C-rank missions, which are a cut above that and begin to verge on real "ninja" work — though they generally have a very low possibility of risk to the ninja involved, especially since their Jounin level sensei often accompanies them.
Recently, Konohagakure has been shorthanded in upper-level ninja ever since the attack by Otogakure and Sunagakure, and has been forced to occasionally send Genin on higher-ranked missions, often without the supervision of a Jounin. Genin are put in four-man cells, consisting of three Genin and a Jounin sensei, in order to learn teamwork and experience true ninja life under the supervision and protection of an elite shinobi.
The make-up of these teams is based on the individual skills of the Genin, so that there will remain a balance between the teams. For instance, Naruto Uzumaki, who passed with the lowest grades, was put in a team with Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, who passed with the highest grades and highest written exam scores, respectively.
The teams are usually made up of two boys and one girl, though there are exceptions. It appears that, usually, the four-man cells specialize in certain skills. What rank in Naruto are you? Are you a wise, powerful Hokage, or are you an evil, hating rouge ninja.

We're Testing!Over the course of nearly two decades, creator Masashi Kishimoto has introduced readers and viewers of all ages to more than a handful of memorable characters. But, who is the strongest? With a range of abilities and strengths, it is hard to determine precisely whether or not one character is more capable in battle than another.
With series spinoff Boruto: Naruto Next Generations nearly a dozen episodes deep at this point, the task of creating a power ranking only becomes more and more difficult. Not to mention, her tireless pining after Sasuke can become a bit annoying after the first hundred episodes or so. That being said, there is a lot of evidence in defense of the young leaf shinobi.
By the end of the series, Naruto and Sasuke are built up to be two of the strongest ninjas ever to walk the Earth. Sakura is successful in bringing down Sasori, an evil puppet master and feared member of the formidable group, the Akatsuki. All in all, Sakura is not only one of the more underrated forces in the Naruto universe, but she also stands tall among some of the strongest characters from the entire series.
His sacrifice to bring down the Nine-Tailed Fox is not only an important plot device for the animated series, but it is also part of the reason he has found his way onto our list. Being trained under Jiraiya, another member of the legendary Sannin trio, Minato quickly grew into one of the greatest ninjas of all time.
'Boruto' Confirms Naruto's Official Ninja Rank
Known as the Yellow Flash of the Leaf, the Fourth Hokage is easily one of the fastest ninjas, not only on this list, but in the series as a whole. Gaara of the Sand has arguably the most heart-breaking backstory of any character in the anime.
However, he is not nearly as upbeat as the titular, knuckleheaded ninja. Cased in an armor of sand, Gaara is nearly impenetrable. While he begins his journey as a villain sent to attack the Village Hidden in the Leaves, he quickly becomes a valued ally, saving the day on more than one occasion.
Before he ever received his Sharingan eye from former teammate Obito, Kakashi was a standout shinobi trained by the Fourth Hokage himself. Not to mention, this shinobi is a longtime member of the Anbu Black Ops, an elite tactical unit of ninjas. If this were a list of most popular characters from the anime, then Kakashi would likely land a lot higherbut based on pure power alone, this feels like a good spot for him. However, the kunoichi does not simply rest on her laurels.
Harnessing the power of the Eight-Tailed beast, B does not see himself as cursed like the other shinobi with demons sealed within them. In fact, it is B who teaches Naruto how to utilize the power of his own demon in order to become stronger. Rhymes and rhythms can be heard during his countless battles as well as his everyday conversation. In fact, one of the only teachers arguably on the same level as Jiraiya was his own sensei, the Third Hokage.
Being a master of taijutsu, Guy is simply unmatched. However, with no ninjutsu or genjutsu to speak of, he has always needed to work twice as hard in order to succeed as a Leaf Village shinobi. However, we feel that Orochimaru never quite seems to get quite enough credit for being the evil genius he is.This can be in the form of high-powered fights, clever traps, or a mix of both. Regardless, the end product is a satisfactory visual experience that leaves little to the imagination as two powerful individuals duke it out in a fight for the ages.
One of the anime series that comes to mind when one talks about such shows has to be Naruto. The fact of the matter is that this series, in particular, has become a fan favorite for a bevy of reasons.
By the end of the series, a large number of characters are either introduced strongly or developed to the point where they've truly cemented their reputation as some of the most powerful individuals around in the ninja world.
What Ninja Rank Are You (Naruto)
Of course, this brings to mind one pressing question — out of the sheer number of characters in this universe, who exactly are the cream of the crop? Keeping this thought in mind, it's time to officially rank the strongest ninja in the world of Naruto.
Making his entrance in the most over-the-top fashion by rapping, of all the thingsno one could've assumed that this person would be so powerful. The Fifth Hokage of the Leaf Village is also extremely skilled in the art of ninjutsu and taijutsu.
Her skills are what convinced the majority of people that giving her the mantle of being the new Hokage was a good decision to make. From being one of the legendary Sannin to losing both her brother and lover to war, Tsunade has been through a lot in her life. These experiences have ultimately shaped her up to be the woman we all know and adore. Once Tobi and Sasuke infiltrate the summit for their own personal reasons, we are finally able to witness the power of Killer B's brother first-hand.
His fight with Sasuke is so intense that the Uchiha's eyesight is permanently damaged after he uses his powers to its absolute limit. Even after being hit with the permanent flames of Amaterasu, A doesn't even flinch as he disposes of his burning hand.
Kawaki has been introduced in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. As of right now, we know very little of the character and his origins. However, the fact that he apparently disposed of a powerful ninja like Naruto pretty much guarantees him a place on this list. Only time will tell us as to how extensive Kawaki's powers actually are. For now, this character is shrouded in a veil of mystery, which means that we can only wait and watch as Boruto: Naruto Next Generations continues.
The Third Hokage and probably the most powerful ninja we see in the early parts of the series, Hiruzen Sarutobi was a legend in his heyday.
His mastery of the ninja arts is nothing to scoff at, and he was fully deserving of receiving the rank of Hokage. However, that still doesn't take away from the fact that he's stupidly strong in his own right.
We've already talked about Sarutobi, but now its time that we talk about one of his pupils that ended up haunting the village for the days to come. Of course, the person we're talking about right now is none other than the infamous Orochimaru. We've already talked about Orochimaru's attack on Konoha, but this ninja's transgressions go way beyond this solitary incident. From performing unethical experiments to unlocking a questionable form of immortality, Orochimaru has done it all.
One of the most beloved characters in the entire series, it's amazing just how much of a drastic cycle of character development Itachi went through as the series progressed.
It must be said that Itachi's expertise with the Sharingan is nothing short of extraordinary. It's time to wrap up our talks of the Sannin with the third member of this elite group. His mentorship of Naruto is something that definitely shouldn't be ignored since he helped one of the most powerful ninjas unlock his hidden potential time and time again.
This intellect, coupled with his devastating powers, made Jiraiya a person to be feared by anyone who opposed him. To be very honest, very little is known of Sakumo Hatake. Nicknamed as the "White Fang," the fact that he was the father of Kakashi already places him amongst the elite, and rightfully so. He was considered to be one of the best shinobi of his generation by a country mile.
To give this statement some much-needed context, it's a widespread notion that Sakumo's abilities were above that of the three Sannin, which is a massive compliment in itself.
